A digital Common

CoopCycle's main goal is to empower couriers and, more generally workers. We, at the same time, wanted our code to be freely accessible, but not only used by companies with strong ethic. Based on previous works by Dimytri Kleiner and the p2p foundation, our legal team put themselves to work. The final result ? A new license : the Coopyleft. It ensures that the companies using the CoopCycle's software comply with the following rules:

Using a cooperative model in which workers are employees;
Fitting with the definition of social economy actors as defined by the European Union.

So the CoopCycle software is indeed not open source : its code is available on Github, but not anyone can run it for commercial purposes ! One of our goal is to spread the use of the Copyleft license. Interested to join or to use the license? Mail us.
